Consultant to the Global Head of ING Private Cloud
INGAbout the role
This role is identical to a Business Manager role. You’re the right hand, trusted advisor, and representative of the Global Tribe Lead of the ING Private Cloud (IPC). You’re involved in almost everything he does, and by closely working together, you help to manage the Tribe effectively. You are in touch with IPC’s stakeholders regularly, including CIOs and IT Leads of 16+ ING entities currently running on IPC. That means you get to operate at senior management level every day, in one of the most dynamic and complex parts of the bank.
You help shape the Tribe’s strategy and roadmap, and you’re involved in reporting to various boards. Once you’re up to speed, you chair these meetings on behalf of the Tribe Lead. You keep track of KPIs and make sure we’re moving in the right direction.
You manage or support big projects: think cloud migrations, ECB audits, and transformation programs. You’re the go-to person for a wide range of stakeholders, both inside and outside ING.
You make sure there’s continuity and follow-up across the Tribe and the Management Team (MT). You help set priorities, keep things on track, and drive progress in an international, fast-paced environment.
You’re the linking pin that connects the Tribe. People know where to find you, and they trust you. You work across departments, countries, and functions to make sure everyone’s aligned.
You also support the Management Team on a daily basis. You discuss what’s going on, help set the agenda, and make sure actions are followed up. You’re a sparring partner to the whole MT and involved in a wide range of topics: HR, Finance, Risk, Operations, Marketing & Communication, and Regulatory Affairs. The team relies on you.
And within the Tribe, you help build a sense of community. You organize things like the Coffee Corner and Product Manager Day, act as the eyes and ears on the floor, and make sure colleagues from different ING hubs and cultures feel connected.
Organizational context
ING Private Cloud is ING’s own global cloud platform. It provides secure, scalable, and efficient infrastructure services to almost every part of the bank. In simple terms: IPC makes it possible for ING teams around the world to use the hardware in our global data centers, without having to worry about what’s under the hood.
We’re one of the few banks in Europe that run our own professional-grade Private Cloud. And in today’s world, where geopolitical tensions are rising and digital sovereignty is becoming more important, IPC is more strategic than ever.
The Tribe Cloud team consists of around 310 people, spread across five areas, each offering its own set of cloud services to internal consumers. Most colleagues are based in the Netherlands, but we also have strong teams in Poland, Belgium, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Manila. The MT includes five IT Area Leads, the Tribe Lead, and the Consultant.
Tribe Cloud is part of the Global Infrastructure department, which also includes Tribe Hybrid Cloud Overlay, Tribe Data Center & Networks, Tribe Managed Services & Operations, the Infra Architecture team, and the Centre of Expertise Infrastructure Strategy & Enablement. Together, we build and maintain all of ING’s Global infrastructure.
The Tribe Lead of IPC reports directly to the CIO of Global Infrastructure, who in turn reports to the CTO. That means you’ll be working in a part of the organization that’s close to the core of ING’s tech strategy and where the impact of your work is felt across the entire bank.
