<h3>Job Description</h3><p><strong>Your responsibilities</strong></p><p>Within the <a href="https://beams.cern/">Beams department (BE)</a>, the <a href="https://be-dep-ics.web.cern.ch/">Industrial Control Systems group (ICS)</a> develops solutions and provides support for large and medium scale industrial control systems and also promotes their use. The support covers the domains of the experiments, the technical infrastructure and the accelerators.<br/> As a Junior SCADA Application Service Engineer you will join the<a href="https://be-dep-ics.web.cern.ch/content/ap"> Controls Engineering section (BE-ICS-CE</a>) which is in charge of the engineering of the industrial control systems and provides industrial automation technology support CERN wide.</p><p>This position is allocated in the SCADA Application Service (SAS) team. It is dedicated to the development of the technical supervisory layer of different CERN facilities (e.g. Cryogenics, HVAC, gas, electrical networks...) and in the optimization of the management of such control systems</p><p>Specifically, you will: </p><ul><li>Design, develop and maintain supervisory control applications (e.g. Technical Infrastructure monitoring); </li><li>Install, upgrade and configure SCADA systems to monitor and control various industrial processes (e.g. Cryogenics, HVAC, gas...);</li><li>Develop tools (e.g. custom scripts) to enhance system functionality and performance management and maintainability of the facilities hosting such tools; </li><li>Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and develop solutions that align with their needs;</li><li>Assist with upgrading all the existing CERN WinCC OA projects and perform system upgrades ensuring minimal disruption to operations;</li><li>Perform testing and validation activities to ensure smooth upgrades to the software versions (e.g. WinCC OA, UNICOS); </li><li>Provide support to CERN end-users within the SCADA/WinCC OA domains</li></ul><p><strong>Your profile</strong></p><p><u>Skills and/or knowledge</u></p><ul><li>Initial experience with industrial controls systems</li><li>Knowledge of high-level programming and scripting languages (e.g. C++, python...)</li><li>Knowledge of databases would be an asset. </li><li>Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.</li></ul><p><u>Eligibility criteria:</u></p><ul><li>You are a national of a <a href="https://home.cern/about/member-states">CERN Member or Associate Member State</a>.</li><li><strong><u>By the application deadline,</u></strong> you have a <strong>maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation</strong> in Computer Science, Automation Engineering (or a related field) <strong><u>and</u> your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree</strong>.</li><li>You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.</li><li>Applicants without University degree are not eligible.</li><li>Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>Job closing date: <strong>19.01.2024 at 23:59h (midnight) CET.</strong></p><p>Job reference: BE-ICS-CE-2023-51-GRAE</p><p>Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.</p><p>Target start date: 01-June-2024</p>
