Your New Role…

The Video Editorial Vice President leads editorial and creative vision for high-impact video initiatives across CNN’s platforms around the world. Leads a global team who produce, shoot, and edit daily short and longer form content for next-generation products with an eye towards identifying direct-to-consumer, paid experiences. You will set the day’s editorial agenda while managing teams who create daily or breaking news, original reports, livestreams, and social video. Must exhibit a deep understanding of audience needs and visual storytelling for mobile news consumption. The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist who excels at innovative approaches to video formats and visual storytelling techniques. This is an essential leadership position that requires the highest standards for editorial and creative execution.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Leads overall editorial and creative strategy for global cross-platform video content for CNN.
  • Defines the long-term vision and investment roadmap for video storytelling aligned to brand, audience, and business goals.
  • Oversees development, greenlighting and performance of all premium video formats and franchises.
  • Collaborates with Audience, Product, Growth, and Newsroom/Programming executive leadership to align content and audience strategy.
  • Owns editorial performance and resource planning for the video operation, including staff development, succession planning and staffing.
  • Champions innovation in storytelling, creative development and audience engagement through testing, experimentation and iteration.
  • Ensures that performance feedback loops and learnings inform future creative development and distribution strategy

Qualifications & Experience…

  • 15+ years in digital media, journalism, or content leadership with deep video experience, preferably within a newsroom or breaking news environment
  • 5+ years of senior leadership and direct management of multi-layered editorial teams
  • Demonstrated experience driving strategic transformation in content or editorial environments
  • Strong record of building and scaling video experiences or franchises
  • Deep expertise in publishing infrastructure, monetization, analytics; aligns editorial vision with technology capabilities
  • P&L accountablity
  • Demonstrated point of view of editorial vision and audience instinct
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking & ability to execute on strategy
  • Proven ability to innovate in visual storytelling and format development
  • Data fluency and performance-driven editorial planning
  • Strong communicator and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage interdependent, matrixed stakeholder relationships
  • Must be agile and adaptable in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
