Description:
The Director of Corporate Partnerships is a member of the Institutional Partnerships team, working closely with the Senior Director of Institutional Partnerships, the Institutional Partnerships team and other members of the Development staff to engage the private sector in funding CAFB’s mission-critical work through philanthropic grants, cause marketing promotions, employee engagement campaigns, and other strategic initiatives. The Director will lead, steward, and expand a portfolio of corporate partners with the goal of raising $2M annually. This position will manage corporate partners across the sector, with a primary focus on companies capable of contributing mid to-high five and six-figure gifts. The Director will also actively seek to identify new funding opportunities and build new and expanded partnerships for CAFB. They will lead the full revenue generation lifecycle from prospect research and initial outreach, to developing concepts and proposals, writing and submitting grant applications and sponsorship requests, and managing partnerships through reporting and renewals. The Director will serve as a thought partner and collaborator to the Senior Director, working together to implement a strategy that will significantly grow private sector support for the food bank over the next five years. The Director will be expected to represent CAFB at corporate and civic events that align with the organization’s mission and objectives, and to skillfully network in order to cultivate new relationships and opportunities for support. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the management of the Institutional Partnerships Coordinator.
Essential Functions: New Business Development (50%)
• Oversee prospect research to develop and deepen the pipeline of prospective private sector partners across the region, with a focus on tapping into companies with a presence in Northern Virginia
• Identify and pursue new corporate funding opportunities aligned with CAFB’s strategic priorities
• Lead outreach efforts to engage new corporate prospects through cold outreach, networking, and industry research
• Oversee and advance the corporate volunteer program, ensuring it delivers meaningful experiences that deepen engagement and foster stronger, long-term partnerships with CAFB
• Develop customized pitches and partnership proposals tailored to prospective corporate donors and create corporate marketing materials to support cold outreach and prospecting efforts
• Lead preparation and support for the CEO and other senior executives in high-level corporate outreach and solicitation efforts, including conducting research, developing strategy and outreach materials, organizing meetings, preparing comprehensive briefing documents, and ensuring leaders are positioned for successful asks and relationship-building
• Identify opportunities to network and showcase CAFB as the backbone of the region’s hunger relief infrastructure; participate (or facilitate the participation of colleagues) in meetings and external events that highlight CAFB’s innovative approaches and impact in the community.
