About the role
Role and Scope of Position:
Responsible for overseeing the Field Operations Training Program to ensure the safe and effective performance of Gas Operations employees. Training includes both classroom and field training that incorporates conceptual and hands-on instructional methods, as well as field operations involving non-gas and live-gas work on the distribution system.
This position is multi-faceted with responsibilities including work planning and coordination; scheduling; emergency response; execution of training and fieldwork activities; performance measurements and student evaluations; and coaching and mentoring.

Essential Functions:
- Provides feedback and recommendations for improvement to the Field Training program, organizational structure, and curriculum.
- Effectively implements and oversees training program and works with Field Trainers to analyze job tasks and current field performance to evaluate training needs and program content.
- Supervises, directs, and instructs trainees during classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training assignments.
- Ensures all trainees are sufficiently trained to perform their assigned duties by reviewing and evaluating work of field trainers and employees.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and Company work rules and procedures. Understands and complies with labor contracts and works to resolve initial grievances. Initiate appropriate disciplinary action as required.
- Ensures that work is performed in accordance with appropriate Company standards and work methods including monitoring for a high quality of workmanship. Provides employee feedback and seeks to enhance performance and safety.
- Coordinates with the Training Coordinator and Planning and Scheduling Supervisor to plan, organize, schedule, and manage field workload.
- Provides updates and ensures new procedures and revisions are incorporated into training and materials.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Must possess Operator Qualifications related to job for both Meter Services and Maintenance/Construction.
- Requires knowledge of the gas distribution system and design, production plant operation, metering regulations and gas-fired equipment.
- Requires knowledge of construction, operating and maintenance principles and practices, procedures, safety standards and business processes.
- Requires project and schedule management skills.
- Working knowledge of the labor contracts.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
Experience:
- At least Five years of experience in Gas Distribution and/or Field Service design and/or installation.
- Must have technical discipline with supervisory experience.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Natural Gas Operator Qualifications.
- Valid driver’s license required. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain CDL preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $119340.00 to $13260.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to travel between MA and CT.
- Work is conducted in the classroom and outside in varied conditions and terrain, including adverse weather conditions.
- Drives to various field training sites to supervise work, and review or discuss current job requirements.
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
