Wireline Transformation & Supply Chain - Technology Services, Cloud Operations & SaaS Supply Chain

AT&T is undergoing a significant transformation from technology to organizational structure across our IT and product teams. The team provides sourcing support for our internal partners and functions of Cloud, SaaS, and ML/AI/Generative AI, including the growing support needs of the AT&T Technology Services Organization. While providing primarily sourcing support, the team is growing competencies into the operations, logistics, strategy, and standards around support of this cloud transformation.

As a Senior Consultant, your role is critical and highly visible across the organization to identify and execute on innovative initiatives with high impact on our customers or our organization. You’ll bring an understanding of the cloud ecosystem and strategic sourcing best-practices to support AT&T’s transformation strategy.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic initiatives: Partners with senior leaders to define, launch, and optimize goals and strategic initiatives to meet the needs of the business. Facilitates innovation in support of AT&T’s shift toward Cloud environments, ML/AI/Generative AI, SaaS, PaaS, Open Source Software, co-development, go-to-market, and ongoing supplier collaboration & innovation. Acts as confidant for leadership team on strategic initiatives, serving as a trusted advisor to perform deep dive analysis on complex topics.
  • Market research & competitive analysis: Analyzes industry, supplier and regulatory trends and evolving technology capabilities to identify new opportunities and challenges, and development recommendations for sourcing and BU partners. Conducts market pricing analysis and benchmark industry analysis to facilitate fact-based decision making and negotiation support.
  • Category strategy development: Evaluates current and potential suppliers in coordination with internal stakeholders. Develops strategic, technical category plans and owns the execution with client BU leads as well as suppliers to reduce complexity, aggregate buying power, maintain healthy supplier ecosystem, and consider broader organizational objectives and cross-functional organizations’ interests
  • Sourcing event leadership: Develop objective and lead large and complex sourcing engagements which may involve a team of sourcing managers and cooperation from people in other parts of the organization while utilizing competitive sourcing events and a fact-based approach to negotiations. Provide negotiation support for Sourcing teams across the organization, including financial analysis and negotiation strategy development.
  • Policy & Governance Support: Support evolution of internal policy and governance functions around technology selection and risk management. Collaborate with cross-functional risk management teams to evolve risk culture.
  • Thought leadership: Guides, trains, and mentors Senior Sourcing Managers on strategies, policies, procedures, and opportunities. Trusted resource on issues when analysis of situation or data requires in-depth knowledge. Champions excellence.

Education: Required bachelor’s degree, typically in the domain or in supply chain; preferred: master’s degree.

Experience: Typically, 5 to 8 years of relevant experience. Has technological category knowledge, sourcing, and vendor management experience in the applicable domain. Familiar with cloud services, SaaS business models, and/or other technology domain experience.
