Mission Analysis Engineer (Senior) - Millennium Space Systems
BoeingAbout the role
Job Description
At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.
Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have direct impact to global security, like missile warning and Earth observation.
Our team is curious, bold and innovative. We take risks, innovate and explore new techniques and technologies. We influence change because we challenge the status quo. And when we watch our satellites launch, we know each one of us made it happen.
The Mission Analysis Engineering team is focused on (a) design and development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and Design Reference Missions (DRMs) from key customer requirements; (b) modeling and simulation of satellites, constellations, and system-of-systems; and (c) design and integration of mission data processing algorithms, such as EO/IR image processing or inertial tracking. They are key stakeholders in the design and validation of mission CONOPS and Design Reference Missions (DRM) and are leaders in comprehensive end-to-end software integration, validation, and testing. The team owns the development and validation of the satellite/constellation mission, as well as the predicted technical performance metrics (TPMs) for the program. They are chief architects and implementers of mission data processing algorithms, ensuring mission level objectives are met.
As a Mission Analysis Engineer on the Mission Analysis Engineering Team, you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for all modeling, simulation, and analysis for a program, study, or proposal. Mission Analysis Engineers don't just execute on ideas - they innovate creative solutions and novel designs to improve our products and solidify Millennium as an industry leader. You will develop methods to simulate mission scenarios and assess end-to-end constellation capabilities; design and deploy image processing, inertial tracking, state estimation, and optimal control algorithms for sensor systems; and provide tools and modeling platforms for validating system performance during on-orbit mission operations. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with technical and program leadership to ensure that high-quality work products are delivered on time and that the proposed mission solution meets the customer need.
This position's internal job code is 3D Guidance, Nav & Controls Engr. Our team is currently hiring for Levels 4-5.
Position Responsibilities:
Build and maintain simulations for large satellite constellations to assess effectiveness against mission requirements
Own the Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) image processing algorithms chain, from photon to Warfighter
Create models for space vehicle payloads to use in system trades and performance predictions
Develop novel algorithms, models, and data processing schemes for MW/MT, RPO, and SDA systems
Architect the Concepts of Operation (CONOPS)/Design Reference Mission (DRM) and their associated simulations
