The Royal Caribbean Group’s Legal Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Director, Labor and Employment reporting to the VP, Assistant General Counsel.
The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.
The position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.
Position Summary:
The Director of Labor and Employment supports Royal Caribbean Group’s Legal department by overseeing and managing labor and employment matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide legal guidance and risk assessment to the Human Resource team and other internal stakeholders relating to escalated labor and employment law matters, including personnel decisions and workplace investigations;

Manage employment-related legal demands, complaints, union grievances, governmental/regulatory inquiries, administrative proceedings, litigation, and arbitration;

Oversee and manage fact investigations and document review, including electronic discovery;

Draft, review, and revise corporate policies and employment-related agreements;

Provide employment law-related support in connection with corporate initiatives, projects, and transactions;

Collaborate with internal stakeholders on business strategies and proactively identify employment-related risks;

Supervise other lawyers and paralegals;

Foster a respectful, innovative, and creative workplace with the highest ethical, professional, and legal standards;

Manage external counsel (including budget and spend) representing the company in employment-related matters;

Perform such other tasks and duties as may be assigned from time to time at the company’s discretion; and

Travel as needed.
Qualifications and Education:

Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school with excellent academic credentials and Florida Bar membership;

A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the practice of law;

Experience providing counseling related to employment law, and human resources compliance and best practices;

Litigation experience preferred;

In-house experience preferred;

Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including laws relating to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, accommodations, and leaves of absence;

Experience drafting and reviewing executive employment agreements;

Global experience preferred;
