The Senior Credentialing Specialist ensures compliance with all regulatory, accrediting and membership-based organizations via development and implementation of a comprehensive credentialing process, for physicians and other healthcare professionals who practice within the University delivery system.
• Reviews and processes applications and reappointment paperwork for health care providers, checking for completeness and accuracy, that will serve as the basis for decisions regarding appointments, reappointments and delineation of clinical privileges for individual members of medical staff.
• Collects data (education, training, experience, and licensure content) from a variety of sources and prepares verification letters and accreditation information.
• Maintains the appropriate database(s) (CACTUS) and ensures all relevant data is inputted in a timely and accurate manner for practitioners and facilities.
• Collaborates with various clinical departments and administrative offices, to include licensing agencies, and insurance carriers, in coordination of the credentialing process.
• Prepares records for regular auditing, as well as maintains close communication with all appropriate practitioners, to ensure that records are current.
• Assists the Credentialing Committee with activities related to the functions of self-governance of the medical staff and performance improvement of the professional services provided by individuals with clinical privileges.
• Ensures all personnel and services adhere to facility and staff policies, department guidelines, regulations, and government laws.
• Confers with appropriate professional, educational associations and personnel, within and outside the University, to promote knowledge/quality standards for the administrative management of healthcare professionals, which assures compliance with practice standards, bylaws, state and federal regulatory requirements (TJC).
