Summary
As the Field System Architect Director (FSA), you will leverage your expertise and leadership skills in the market and customer domains to define the compute / storage product and system architecture. You will lead a team of FSAs as they conduct new technology research, analyze market trends, manage customer relationships, and guide Celestica’s design team within the compute / storageing product sector. Your contributions will help influence and execute department and company strategy.
This is a leadership role that requires a broad understanding of a mix of hardware and software/firmware, mechanical, thermal, layout, SI, and test teams in the context of system architecture. It is essential to effectively align with the R&D team and possess customer-facing experience interacting with architects and R&D professionals from OEM and Hyperscalar market segments. A strong knowledge of compute / storage product design across various market segments, including enterprise access, data center infrastructure, and Telco data communications, is required. You should be experienced in the implementation considerations and trade-offs between cost-effective lower-end systems and complex modular high-performance compute / storage chassis systems. Your technical knowledge and leadership skills will help plan and direct the roadmap for the department in alignment with broader company goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team to define complex compute / storage platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplined team to bring to implementation. Extensive and focused engagement through EVT, phasing out thereafter. Ensure overall design quality metrics are met.

Define goals and objectives of the team within a broader collaborative environment between Technology, Development, and Customer teams.

Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.

Oversee the RFQ technical response process.

Enable the R&D/Design team with deliverables such as system requirements documents (SRD), requirement compliance assessments, and technical proposals.

Is the primary technical interface between Celestica and our medium to large scale customers, particularly in technical definition and escalation.

Act as spokesperson and technical authority in trade shows, interviews, blogs, and panel appearances. Influences the creation and roadmap of the outreach strategy for the department.

Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in the winning of new business.

Identify and Champion process improvement efforts as needed.

Participate in standards committees and industry groups.

Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.

Anticipate current industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent Customer presentation skills. Interface and interact with large OEM and hyperscaler customers on ongoing product related issues and new product design concepts.
- Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch.
- The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment.
- Good interpersonal skills: be able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.
Experience:
- Experience with relevant leading technologies in compute / storage products including:
- CPU devices including X86, Atom, Xeon, AMD
- NPU devices including all Broadcom families (Trident, Tomahawk, Jericho, Ramon), as well as alternative device families such as Cisco, Marvell, or Mellanox are desired
- High speed design including PCB materials, Serdes technology (112G+), connector, cable, and parasitic challenges in designcompute / storage performance characteristics and related device optimization features
- Power devices including multi-stage and near load delivery
- Advanced assembly techniques / challenges affecting design
- Optics devices and technology – trade-offs and trends
- Mechanical design challenges/flexibility as it impacts architecture
