We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our team as the Director of Commercial Business Development on the Rheem Commercial team. This role is pivotal in spearheading the strategy and driving growth for our Strategic National Accounts, focusing on market penetration across key distribution channels and targeted verticals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sales acumen, have experience identifying business growth opportunities, and a proven track record in managing large national accounts. This position offers significant internal exposure and influence, partnering closely with the Rheem Residential team, Regional Sales teams, and Product and Marketing teams to drive channel success and meet organizational objectives.
Reporting into VP/GM for Commercial Water and Pool and with a dotted line into VP for Commercial Air, this position works closely and collaboratively with Rheem Strategic Sales Leaders across businesses and their teams to ensure that strategic planning, key initiatives, and objectives within the business align with those of various business units and to deliver annual results for the Commercial Water and Commercial Air P&L’s.
This position will be responsible for Rheem’s US Commercial Water and Commercial Air Sales responsibilities at the National Account level. The position requires up to 75% travel. This national role is field based, ideally located within proximity to a major metro US city.
- Lead our Commercial Strategic National Accounts team with a focus on growth, positioning Rheem as a differentiated market leader in both Commercial Water and Air.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with current national accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Build and lead a future-focused large accounts team aimed at acquiring new major clients and expanding the company’s market share.
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within strategic verticals to expand the company's market presence and achieve revenue targets.
- Serve as a key leader within the organization, providing insights and direction to shape the future of the company's commercial business development.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to support strategic objectives and drive business growth.
- Hold accountability for achieving the P&L targets for our National Account customers.
- Develop and implement effective communication plans to ensure proper communications of account direction, objectives, and performance across the business.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans that align with corporate objectives, focusing on growth and profitability.
- Drive sales growth through effective business development strategies, identifying new opportunities, and closing deals with major clients.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Work closely with the Commercial Water and Air marketing, product development, and operations teams to ensure alignment and support for business development initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities to senior management.
- Establish and assign sales quotas and oversee management of the quota system.
- Evaluate market reactions to sales activities and programs to ensure timely adjustments to meet changing market and competitive positions.
- Utilize CRM tools to track and manage customer interactions, sales activities, and pipeline development.
- Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field. MBA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing accounts.
- 5+ years of experience in leading a team and building organizational talent. Experience in building a new team as well as coaching and developing an existing team.
- Ability to influence and drive collaboration across various levels.
