Senior Director, Worldwide Medical Immunology & Cardiovascular, Medical Communications (Immunology)
Location: Princeton, NJ (Hybrid)
The Senior Director, Worldwide Medical Communications – Immunology (Rheumatology) is a highly strategic, above-asset leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the global Medical Communications vision across the entire rheumatology portfolio. This leader oversees a disease-area specific organization ensuring excellence, innovation, and alignment with the rapidly evolving landscape of Medical Communications. As a recognized subject matter expert, the Senior Director drives transformation, champions digital, omnichannel, and AI-enabled approaches, and sets the standard for best practices.
This role partners closely with asset/indication Medical Product Leads and Disease Area Heads to ensure integrated, portfolio-wide strategies and effective pull-through of Medical Communications deliverables. The Senior Director also collaborates with Medical Communications Excellence to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and compliance, positioning Medical Communications as a critical enabler of business success.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Functional Excellence
- Lead the development and execution of a unified, above-asset Medical Communications strategy for the entire hematology portfolio, ensuring alignment with global business priorities and medical strategy.
- Oversee and mentor a team of people managers and individual contributors, fostering a culture of high performance, scientific rigor, and continuous development.
- Serve as the functional subject matter expert, setting the vision for Medical Communications and ensuring the team evolves with and is on the forefront of emerging trends and best practices.
- Lead strategic budget planning and oversight for Medical Communications initiatives, ensuring optimal allocation of resources, cost efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals.
Innovation & Transformation
- Ensure seamless and standardized implementation of Medical Communications Working Groups and all associated deliverables—integrated strategic/tactical Medical Communications plans, scientific platforms/narratives, publications, scientific exchange tools, medical education, and medical training— ensuring AIMS teams are positioned for success.
- Drive innovation in Medical Communications through digital, omnichannel, and AI-powered solutions, ensuring the function remains at the forefront of industry evolution.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies and approaches to enhance scientific exchange, medical education, and stakeholder engagement.
Integrated Strategy & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Medical Product Leads to ensure seamless integration of Medical Communications strategies with asset and portfolio objectives.
- Collaborate with Medical Communications Excellence to implement operational efficiencies, cost management, and compliance across all hematology communications activities.
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
- Represent Medical Communications at senior leadership forums, influencing decision-making and advocating for the function’s strategic value.
- Cultivate relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including academic leaders, medical associations/congresses/journals, cross-functional partners, publications vendors, and medical education providers.
