The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of multiple divisions - the San Francisco Health Network, Population Health, Behavioral Health Services, and Administration. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers. The Population Health Division (PHD) provides core public health services for the City and County of San Francisco: health protection, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and disaster preparedness and response. Behavioral Health Services operates in conjunction with SFHN and provides a range of mental health and substance use treatment services.

Position Descriptions

Applications, ADS and Integration

Supports and manages a portfolio of business-critical applications while working with various stakeholders to ensure system stability, performance, and integration. Responsibilities may include serving as the primary contact and collaborating with various stakeholders for incident resolution, system configuration, patch coordination, vendor communication, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance. The division also leads application enhancements and projects that drive operational efficiency.

Epic

Configures, tests, implements, and supports the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system and its modules. Provides troubleshooting for physicians and staff, supports system upgrades, and collaborates across teams to meet clinical, revenue, and operational goals. Strong understanding of clinical workflows and revenue cycle processes is essential.

Project Management Office (PMO) 

Supports the IT Program Management Office (PMO) by managing portfolio functions and providing administrative and analytical support. Assists with project intake, tracking, and reporting, and helps develop procedures, training materials, and knowledge bases. Experience in portfolio management within a healthcare system is preferred.

Metrics and Data Analytics GIS Business Analyst

Collaborates with Population Health, Street Health, and clinical teams to manage and analyze geospatial data. Works with IT developers to integrate data from street outreach, emergency preparedness, disease surveillance, and clinical systems to create visualizations and support data-driven insights.

1. Assess and optimize system designs through reviewing and analysis of user needs, customizing systems through system design and administration to meet the changing business needs of the users; participate in the development of planning for remote hardware and communications facilities.

2. Analyze data processing needs; research and evaluate software on multiple platforms to assist users to meet their departmental goals; assist in developing the evaluation criteria for software.

3. Determine operating characteristics and requirements; develop or modify and document general system design; write detailed design specifications; conduct "walkthroughs" for pro-posed solutions to system problems.
