Election Services Coordinator

The purpose of this class is to maintain and dispense election equipment and supplies, prepare specific computer programs and operations for each election, assist with poll worker recruitment and training, create and maintain a list of ADA-compliant polling locations, and assist in election night and post-election processes.

This class will lead projects in areas of election equipment and warehouse; election worker recruitment, training, and retention; coordinate polling location procurement and use; manage preparation and use of computer programs utilized throughout the election preparation and election reporting processes; and ensure the orderly, professional, and lawful process of federal, state, county, municipal, and special elections.

Under supervision and while adhering to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures, this class monitors equipment and supply inventory, maintains election equipment for proper functionality, assists with testing and preparing the election definition and equipment, ensures election security, conducts tabulation and election reporting following strict protocols and procedures, and provides information and documentation for election certification. This class will schedule dispensation, delivery, and retrieval of election equipment; analyze statistical data in order to calculate future supply needs and to make recommendations related to recount and runoff elections; assemble supplies needed for each polling location for each election; create and generate public and confidential reports; and perform technical tasks related to geographic data. The class engages in basic GIS-related work; gathers, updates, and interprets geographic and demographic election data; and conducts related research and analysis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requires work involving: standing, walking, talking or hearing, sitting, pushing, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Requirements and Qualification

This class requires an Associate’s degree in a computer-related field or a high school diploma and 4 years of experience in a technology-dependent environment. State Election Commission certification must be completed within 18 months, and yearly recertification is required thereafter. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and other software related to voter registration and elections. Requires a South Carolina Driver’s License and a good driving record and the ability to drive a county vehicle and at least a 16-foot box truck. At the discretion of the Executive Director, a combination of education and experience may be substituted for stated education and experience requirements.

Compensation Minimum: $22.78
