Hannover Re Services is currently seeking talented candidates for our open Sr. Actuary position. This is a Full-Time role within the CSS – Inforce Management department. The position is responsible for the execution of inforce management (IFM) projects.  This includes, but is not limited to, developing and maintaining metrics to monitor performance of underlying treaties, researching problematic treaties and developing and proposing potential corrective actions, dealing with client requests related to inforce business, and validating and handling client driven changes in administrative practice or clean-up.  
The scope of responsibility covers the US traditional mortality reinsurance block.  The overarching goals of this position are to 1) protect the value of the inforce block of business and 2) proactively identify opportunities to enhance value.

 

Essential Functions:

(50%) Identifies issues and develop solutions for issues related to client inforce management including rate changes, changes in other non-guaranteed elements, adjustment to post-level premiums, changes in administrative practice, or issues related to administrative clean up. Works with others in department, people from other departments, and with customers in analysing issues and developing solutions. Communicates the results of the work within the company. 

(25%) Develops, maintains, and enhances performance metrics to identify treaties with potential performance or operational issues.  Performs the necessary treaty, administrative, and actuarial modelling to understand underlying drivers of results.  Performs independent review of unique risks or new risk transfer structures to determine effectiveness/accuracy of administration and performance monitoring.

(25%) Leads or assists in Inforce Management projects that arise on an ad hoc basis.

Essential knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or similar 
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an actuarial role with insurance and/or reinsurance experience
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization
  • Effective time management; ability to management competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Computer software: Advanced in Excel; Basic in other Microsoft PC software

Desired knowledge:

  • Actuarial modelling experience: Risk Agility or similar projection software
  • Programming knowledge: C++, R, SQL, VBA
  • Insurance product knowledge: Term, UL, ULSG, Joint
  • Business knowledge: Reinsurance basics, Solvency II, IFRS17, Stat/GAAP, AG48

Travel:

  • 5% domestic travel which may include overnight stays

Total Compensation Range (Inclusive of Base  Bonus) :

  • $146,400 - $198,100
