Role Overview
The VP of Payments will provide strategic Product leadership for Billtrust's Payments organization while mentoring and developing the existing Product team. This leader will serve as a strategic partner to Tricia, helping mature the Product organization while driving the Payments roadmap and commercial strategy.
The role combines executive Product leadership with deep Payments expertise and strong coaching capabilities.

- Deep Payments industry expertise.

- Experience owning Payments products and product strategy.
- Ability to mentor and develop Product Managers.
- Executive presence with customers and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Experience
- Banking, payment networks, fintech, or payment software companies.
- Enterprise SaaS Product Management.
- AI awareness and willingness to leverage AI in Product development.
- Experience scaling Product organizations.
Leadership Expectations
- Provide strategic leadership for the Payments Product organization.
- Mentor Tricia and other Product Managers.
- Lead approximately five to six direct and indirect reports.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and executive leadership.
- Operate comfortably at both the strategic and tactical levels.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate combines deep Payments knowledge with Product leadership experience and can confidently engage customers in conversations around payment workflows, treasury, AR, AP, and financial operations.
Company background is flexible. Candidates from banks, payment processors, fintech companies, or payment networks are all acceptable if they possess strong Product leadership capabilities.

- Candidates lacking either Payments or Product Management experience.
- Executives accustomed to large organizations who struggle operating within lean teams.
- Leaders unwilling to be hands-on when necessary.
- Candidates unable to coach and develop junior Product talent.
Compensation
Compensation will be aligned with the approved executive budget and discussed individually with qualified candidates.
