Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is nationally recognized for excellence in pediatric care. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Outpatient Orthopedic Team. This role is critical to coordinating care for our orthopedic surgical patient population and ensuring a seamless, high-quality experience for patients and families across multiple clinic locations.  The Outpatient Orthopedics RN provides essential clinical and care coordination support for orthopedic surgery patients. This nurse plays a key role in clinic efficiency, patient communication, and continuity of care from pre-operative planning through post-operative recovery.

FTE: 0.8 (32 hours per week)

Schedule: Days, four days per week

Expected to remain until clinic operations are complete each day

Locations Supported: Burnet, Green, Mason, Liberty, Eastgate, and Crestview campuses 

Travel: Required between outpatient clinic locations

 Key Responsibilities

Support efficient clinic flow to ensure timely, patient-centered care

Triage phone calls and messages, addressing patient needs and concerns promptly

Manage office and clinical paperwork, including:

FMLA and school forms

MyChart patient messages

Epic In Basket tasks

Operating Room scheduling coordination

Coordinate care plans and ensure continuity of care for orthopedic surgical patients

Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and clinic staff to optimize patient outcomes

Educate patients and families on pre-operative and post-operative care, rehabilitation expectations, and follow-up plans

Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (Epic)

Qualifications

2 years of Nursing experience

Active Ohio Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure

Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Previous outpatient, orthopedic, or surgical nursing experience preferred

Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinic environment

Comfort traveling between multiple outpatient locations

• Compliance - Patient Services Staff - Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.
