About the role

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Dean, the incumbent provides administrative and technical assistance for the Dean of the College, the Associate Deans, the Administrative Services Manager, the College Development Officer, and the College department chairs; and serves as resource person on policies and procedures for the College. The incumbent manages faculty, staff, and student personnel matters and assists in management operations of the College. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for faculty personnel operations including hiring, the RTP process, and evaluation and handling confidential and sensitive faculty, staff and student's problems and issues in the College.
  • Administers Dean appointments and assists with college elections, appointments, and maintenance of the College Council, its committees, and the College’s representation on the University Academic Senate’s councils and committees.
  • Assists the general operations of the Dean’s Office and serves as resource person for policies and procedures related to the College, including Building Marshal for the College, coordinate department list for space, and emergency documentation for the college.

Maintains a safe work environment. Capable of working without oversight. Ability to manage complex office and operational environment. Working knowledge of higher education environment is preferred.  Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Ability to multitask while facing competing deadlines.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree and three years of progressively responsible administrative experience. 

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,274 (Step 1) - $7,684 (Step 20) per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment  

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
