Work Arrangement:
Onsite: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis. There will be an opportunity to work from other GM locations in the SE Michigan area as projects are identified.

What You’ll Do:
Sustainable Workplaces is charging ahead with this new mission! As part of our exciting program, you’ll gain first-hand experience working closely with leadership to support the full life cycle of facility services including design, engineering, construction and maintenance of pre-manufacturing, parts processing centers, and office facilities. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers will focus on building electrical and mechanical asset sustainment strategies and project execution, which includes firsthand engineering for construction and maintenance at base work location, Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. In addition, Student Interns will have the opportunity to work on maintenance & engineering strategies across large non-manufacturing campuses, manufacturing sites, and Customer Care and Aftersales processing and parts distribution centers. All tracts will rely on the use of emerging technologies such as 3d design, reality capture, and emerging Autodesk sharing cloud software packages. How You’ll Make an Impact:
You will be bringing a new external perspective as you learn, review processes, and ask questions. You will be immersed into a collaborative environment, where team members pull on each other’s strengths during planning and goal setting, through the execution and validation process; all while embedding Safety and Quality into the task or initiative delivery. Your curiosity and creativity will drive continued improvement into our processes, engineering, and services.
Travel varies based on assignment and may be required for strategic partners and plants.
Required Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Must be graduating between May 2026 and May 2028
Able work fulltime, 40 hours per week

Start dates for this internship role are May & June of 2025.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $4,000-$4,900, dependent upon class status and degree
GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program
