What you will be doing:
The Government Affairs Intern works collaboratively within a team of DC-based subject matter experts and federal lobbyists, as well as collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, to advance Premier’s advocacy strategy. This position takes a broad approach to problem solving and developing an understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process. The Government Affairs Intern will participate in policy development, required, and approved educational opportunities, development of thought leadership content, and learning about the various technologies and solutions Premier offers to its clients.
The Government Affairs Intern position will be responsible for supporting the federal legislative and regulatory operations of the Premier Government Affairs team. A key priority of the Government Affairs Intern is to assist with policy development related to issues of importance to Premier and its member alliance.
Key Responsibilities
60% - Research complex issues and assist in development of policy responses and advocacy materials
20% - Engage with stakeholders, Premier members, and Capitol Hill offices
20% - Implement strategies for ongoing PAC and grassroots recruitment and engagement
Required Qualifications
Work Experience:
Years of Applicable Experience - 0 or more yearsEducation:
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Preferred Qualifications
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex content and adapt to various audiences.
Attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
Experience:
Previous experience in healthcare, business, or policy.
Demonstrated interest in healthcare performance improvement.
Demonstrated capability to lead and show value from their efforts.
Education:
Obtaining Bachelors or Master's degree in healthcare administration, business, political science, etc.
