Harley-Davidson offers field-based positions in Sales and other areas of the business. Typically, these positions include working out of a home office and visiting dealers within a geographic territory, in addition to attending events and industry trade shows.

Job Summary
The Field Sales Manager (FSM) is the primary point of contact between Harley-Davidson and our dealers and is responsible for driving motorcycle, P&A, and A&L product sales growth, while achieving annual retail sales targets through the collection of dealerships in their district/territory. FSMs are highly effective at communicating H-D strategies, programs, & policies intended to drive sales, assist dealers, and support customers. FSMs will consult with their dealers on how to best engage their riding community and support growth in ridership by encouraging marketing activities, events, and an overall premium Harley-Davidson customer experience. Additionally, the FSM must build and maintain a professional and productive working relationship with their dealers and use their insight and influence to gain dealer commitment to our strategic priorities.
Job Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate all HDMC programs, policies, and initiatives, including HDMC’s Hardwire Strategic Plan. Positively influence dealers’ behaviors, initiatives, and actions in support of these strategies.
- Analyze dealership performance through a variety of KPI’s to identify areas of opportunity. Utilize experience, insight, best practices, and financial acumen to assist dealers in improving all aspects of their dealership operations to achieve retail targets and healthy profitability.
- Support dealers with the development of business plans that will drive customer engagement, generate leads, convert leads to sales, and actively manage the customer relationship through the life of ownership.
- Consult with dealers on all aspects of marketing and event planning that will deliver a uniquely H-D customer experience while building long term loyalty and customers for life.
- Manage the monthly allocation process effectively with dealers to ensure the right inventory is at the right dealer to maximize sales opportunities.
- Operates with a clear understanding of all facets of dealership operations, core profit centers, and Customer Experience and utilizes resources that implement best practices that will be effective for dealer growth and profitability.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent RequiredEducation Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in field positions (sales and/or after-sales).
Experience Requirements
- Effective written, presentation, and verbal communication skills used to positively motivate and influence dealers’ behaviors and actions.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional work environment.
- Strong analytical skills, including understanding KPI’s, financial statements, and forecasts. Using this ability to assess dealership performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong understanding of sales processes, inventory management, and demand generation, with the ability to guide on how to apply best practices as required.
- Very adept at leveraging technology to be highly effective in interacting virtually with dealers.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle is preferred, but a desire and willingness to learn to ride is acceptable.
