Cruise is looking for an outstanding Senior Radar Engineer, Sensor Integration & Test to help bring-up and test our next generation vehicles and sensors as well as contribute positively to our testing culture by developing sustainable and scalable test processes and methods. In this position, you will work on a multidisciplinary team and work with various stakeholders in order to gather test requirements to complete robust and thorough testing on fast-paced timelines.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for testing both production and prototype radar sensors.

  • Gather requirements from various stakeholders and deliver robust test data / analysis around those requirements.

  • Develop detailed test plans and methodologies, lead test efforts and document results from tests.

  • Develop analytical tools to process data at various stages in the radar signal processing chain.

  • Characterize radar sensors at both a component and system level.

  • Serve as engineering counterparts to Cruise Munich and act as the first point of contact for radar related issues.

  • Work with the Fleet Reliability team to debug and fix radar related issues in the field.

What you must have:

  • B.Sc. or B. Eng in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.

  • 3+ years professional work experience as a test engineer, field applications engineer or similar work experience.  

  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems and proficient with terminals.

  • Ability to develop analytical tools and scripts in Python.

  • Good understanding of the automotive radar signal processing chain.  

  • Experience with using lab equipment such as the Radar Target Simulator (RTS), Spectrum Analyzer (SA), etc. to characterize performance of radars.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an extremely fast-paced and cross-functional team.

  • Strong technical communication skills and attention to detail.

Bonus Points!

  • C++ and MATLAB experience.

  • Experience integrating multiple sensor types (Cameras, Lidars, Radars, etc.) in a Robot Operating System (ROS) environment.

  • Experience with perception algorithms such as Occupancy Grid Mapping (OGM), Tracking, etc.

  • M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.

The salary range for this position is $108,600 - $159,600. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
