Collins Aerospace, an RTX company is a world leader in advanced communication systems and is responsible for providing systems to all branches of the US military.  The Protected Communications Systems Hardware Department within the Collins Mission Systems organization has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. 

What You Will Do
    • Lead Mechanical Design efforts
    • Mentor and Develop Junior Mechanical engineers
    • Work with Mechanical and Electrical Section Managers and Leads
    • Perform Key hardware roles on programs and perform special assignments as needed
    • Interface with mechanical managers, engineers, designers, and structural/thermal analysts, as well as managers and engineers from other disciplines, along with program management and external customers

Qualifications You Must Have
    • Ability to apply mechanical engineering knowledge to solve complex design problems
    • Ability to lead design teams from product concept definition to production
    • Ability to interact productively with other team members across various disciplines, including systems engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management
    • Ability to perform as a change agent
    • Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reporting
    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
    • ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance or HIGHER REQUIRED
    • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Qualifications We Prefer
    • 5+ years of experience in Task Management or other Lead roles on Development programs
    • Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications
    • Able to identify and communicate technical issues and risks that may impact cost, schedule, or other aspects of product design
    • Experience in bid and proposal development and project planning
    • Experience as an IPT/CPT Lead 
    • EVMS Certified and professional exposure to EVMS or similar budget tracking system
    • Excellent presentation and technical writing skills
    • Experience in a product data management environment (PTC Windchill)
    • Experience with RTX policies and processes
