Global Politics & History Teacher DP & MYP SEK CATALUNYA

SEK International School Catalunya needs to incorporate a Global Politics & History Teacher for 27 of August 2025.

Mission:

In Global Politics, they guide students to explore political concepts, power dynamics, human rights, peace, conflict, and global development, preparing them to engage thoughtfully with complex political realities. The mission is to foster intellectual curiosity, intercultural understanding, and a well-rounded global perspective, empowering students to apply political knowledge practically and ethically in both local and international contexts. In History, they guide students to investigate historical events, perspectives, and patterns, fostering a deep appreciation of how the past shapes the present.

Functions:

⋅ Attend department meetings and participate in collaborative planning sessions.
⋅ Develop and implement teaching plans for the subject, and other areas within the department.
⋅ Provide individualized support and feedback to students to promote growth and address diverse learning needs.
⋅ Mentor and guide students on extended essays and internal assessments, helping them set goals, conduct research, and refine their work.
⋅ Take part in standardizing assessment tasks.
⋅ Contribute to curriculum research and improvement.
⋅ Stay updated on the IB program guides taught.
⋅ Engage with parents to communicate students’ progress and address any academic or personal development concerns.

We offer:

⋅ Fulltime Contract: 9:30 . 17:10 h.

⋅ Indefinite contract

⋅ Location: La Garriga - Barcelona

⋅ Salary: According to secondary school agreement + plus of Baccalaureate

Requirements:

⋅ Degree in Political Science, International Relations, History, or a related field.
A degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, or Global Studies could also be acceptable, especially if the coursework includes strong components of politics and history.

⋅ Teaching experience, preferably in one of the IB programmes (MYP and/or Diploma) in Humanities

⋅ English native speaker or native speaker level. Speaking Spanish and Catalan will be valued

⋅ Microsoft Office user. Experience with other educational platforms to enhance classroom dynamics and promote such tools with the team will be appreciated.
