Position Description

NYU Prague is looking for a part-time lecturer to teach a new course "Food, Culture and Globalization," starting in Fall 2024. The course runs from late August to mid-December. Lecturer is responsible for all course preparation (including syllabus and reading materials), teaching and grading. 

Course Description

This course investigates current transformations in the food systems and cultures of Prague under conditions of globalization. A people's diet is dependent on their geography, although no people on earth eat everything edible in their environment and they seek distant stimulants that their locales cannot support. Through lectures, readings and field trips, students will master established facts and concepts about contemporary urban food cultures in Central Europe.

Qualifications

  • PhD in relevant field preferable with a combination of academic and professional experience welcome
  • Experience with working with diverse student groups (study abroad programs)
