The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is seeking a motivated human resources professional to serve as the Regional Human Resource Consultant in Community Corrections, Region IV. The incumbent of this position will report to the Regional Director in West Palm Beach, Florida.

 

Compensation Range: $56,984.72 - $62,682.88

 

Candidates are generally appointed at the minimum of the compensation range; however, compensation may be set within the range, not to exceed the maximum, based on experience.

 

Position Overview:

 

As a Human Resource Consultant, you will coordinate recruitment and selection efforts, oversee on-boarding, and serve as the main point of contact for all human resources (HR) matters in your assigned region. In this role, you’ll facilitate employee fingerprinting, drug testing, and physicals, ensuring compliance of new hires. You’ll also support managers with performance management, monitor wage and hour compliance, and manage the FMLA and workers’ compensation processes. Acting as a liaison between the region and the Central Office, you’ll assist with handling employee relations issues, and coordinate essential tasks like direct deposit compliance, position descriptions, and vacancy tracking. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

To excel as the Human Resource Consultant, candidates should bring a solid knowledge of data collection methods, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and Department of Management Services Personnel Rules. Proficiency with computer applications is essential, along with strong communication skills to clearly convey information both verbally and in writing. Success in this role also requires an ability to locate and identify critical information, along with excellent time management skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently. The ideal candidate will demonstrate skill in motivating, developing, and guiding employees, including recognizing strengths and identifying the best candidates for specific roles. Additionally, they must be adept at understanding and applying HR rules, policies, and procedures, as well as managing personnel data and records. Effective planning, organizing, and coordinating of assignments are crucial for providing seamless HR support across the region.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of professional HR experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional HR experience; or a high school diploma and six years of professional HR experience.
