Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.


Job Summary:
The Temp, Clinical Sample Specialist is responsible for sample management activities for samples arriving at LabConnect's Johnson City, TN facility. The Temp, Clinical Sample Specialist will perform tasks in support of receiving specimens for storage, onsite processing, or shipments to partner laboratories or other facilities. The Temp, Clinical Sample Specialist will also communicate with other departments such as Client Services (CS), Sample Tracking Solutions (STS), and Clinical Trial Materials (CTM) to ensure the timely and accurate handling of samples.


Essential Duties and Other Responsibilities:

• Sample receipt and breakdown of kits received
• Knowledge of Good Documentation Practice (GDP)
• Sample runner for different areas within the department
• Requisition registration and sample accessioning
• Specimen storage at all temperatures (OSD review if required)
• Pulling and QC’ing specimens for shipments
• Identification of sample discrepancies and appropriate escalation paths
• Inter-departmental communication
• Assist with QC’ing samples for courier pick up, scheduled, ad hoc, destructions, or day of receipt shipments as back up shipper
• IATA training (if applicable)
• Housekeeping tasks including, but not limited to, recycling of dry ice, ice removal from freezers, removal of excess shipping materials, restocking of supplies, etc…
• Document end of day checks and other checklists as required by assignment
• Attend trainings/meetings
• 6 hours of continuing education per year
• Other duties as required by management


Education and Experience

Required:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
This role is onsite in our Johnson City facility and will be a Tues-Sat schedule.


Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations or situations where only limited standardization exists.


Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including MS Word and Excel. The individual should have confidence working in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Exposure to dry ice and cold. Must handle biological samples.
