About the role

Proposed Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.

 

Note: This is a remote position and candidates must reside within reasonable driving distance to Queensbury, NY.

 

The Referral Specialist acts as a liaison between patients, providers, and health center staff members by providing prompt and professional service for the patient’s referral and follow-up needs.
• Monitors and maintains referral inbox for assigned health center locations
• Verifies patient demographic and insurance information and updates as necessary. Works with Eligibility Team to verify patient health insurance eligibility as needed
• Completes the electronic Referral Order process for patients needing internal and/or external referrals for health care services
• Sends appropriate documentation to specialist office prior to patient appointment
• Works as a team member to assure all patient referrals are completed
• Completes the prior authorization process as necessary
• Monitors and maintains the referral Follow Up inbox for assigned health centers
• Keeps Supervisor informed of all problem, complaints, or areas for improvement
• Works in conjunction with Medical Home staff to assure adherence to project mission
• Works with Athena support group to assure a complete and comprehensive external provider listing in EMR system
• Demonstrates ability to maintain decorum and positive approach to both internal and external customers
• Adhere to the guidelines as set forth in the Networks Remote Work Program and Expectations policy on the HWEB
• Enthusiastically serve on various committees, attend staff meetings, and support the Mission, Vision, and Core Values
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Computer training and/or medical terminology preferred
• Minimum of one-year work experience in a call center, medical office setting or equivalent training/education required
• Previous Electronic Medical Record experience
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload and experience working with a diverse population required
• Experience with Microsoft Office required
• Ability to work as a centralized service team member as well as independently
• Excellent customer service and communication skills required

 

The pay rate for this position is $19.25/hour.
