Job Location

Duke Raleigh Hospital - 3400 Wake Forest Road - Raleigh, NC 

 

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Duke Department of Radiation Oncology team at Duke Raleigh Hospital located in Raleigh, NC to provide direct patient care services in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support our inpatient consult service. The ideal candidate will have oncology and/or radiation oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.  

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with designated physicians to evaluate and diagnose oncologic and medical problems and prescribe necessary treatment and services for inpatient radiation oncology patients
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories, conduct physical exams, order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to evaluate patient condition, and formulate appropriate treatment plans
  • Provide education to patients and caregivers regarding the diagnosis, treatment plan, and the risks, benefits, side effects, and logistics of radiation treatment
  • Manage disease specific symptoms as well as acute and late onset radiation related effects
  • Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
  • Communicate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate coordination of care
  • Participate in education of new staff, students
  • Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics, and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies
  • Attend program required meetings
  • Maintain institutional requirements for compliance

Job Hours

Primary hours will be four 10-hour shifts to meet the needs of the patients.

 

Experience

Preference for oncology and/or radiation oncology work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
