Senior Staff Engineer - Payments Platform

Summary:
As a Sr. Staff Engineer, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap for our Payments Platform, driving innovation, improving systems, and solving critical challenges. You will guide architecture, mentor engineers, and establish high standards for technical decision-making and team performance.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop a secure, resilient, and compliant Payments Platform.
• Provide mentorship and foster a culture of learning and engineering excellence.
• Set high standards for code, design documentation, and technical decision-making.
• Establish practices for a high-performing engineering organization.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and recommend new technologies.
• Resolve service disruptions and implement prevention/self-healing mechanisms.
• Influence and educate stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications:
• Extensive hands-on experience in designing and implementing payments & Fintech systems.
• Proven ability to architect platforms with resiliency, observability, and continuous delivery.
• Expertise in modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, C#) and system design.
• Proficiency in API design, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native tooling.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills across distributed teams.
• Preferred experience in finance and payment platforms.
• Track record of delivering large-scale platform initiatives with effective collaboration and ownership.
Experience:
• 12+ years in software development, including Go or Java frameworks.
• 10+ years in architecture and system design.
• 8+ years with cloud-native systems and CNCF frameworks.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Annual Salary
$115,000.00 - $260,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
