Department Overview

Electric Asset Management is responsible for the electric system engineering and planning, asset strategy, and risk management across transmission, distribution, and substation asset families. This centralized, risk-informed approach allows PG&E to manage electric risk, asset and system health, interconnections, and performance by using consistent standards, work methods, prioritization, and program sponsorship, while leveraging lessons learned from inspections and asset data to inform asset management decisions. The organization is accountable for asset planning and strategy, standards and work methods, and asset data management for Electric. 

 

The Asset Knowledge Management (AKM) team, within Electric Asset Management, is responsible for the management, quality, and access of PG&E’s electric asset data. The team’s objective is to maximize the use and ensure the trustworthiness of PG&E’s critical electric data assets.

 

 

Position Summary

The Principal Data Strategist will be part of Electric Engineering team’s Asset Knowledge Management department. The mission of this team is to lead and aggressively advance the Electric Engineering and Operation teams’ ability to make data-driven decisions by improving the accessibility, quality and use of information/data and maturing our analytical capabilities.

The Principal Data Strategist is accountable for defining the Electric asset data strategy and related strategic objectives. Further, the role will design strategic roadmaps and drive implementation key initiatives and data management standards to realize the strategic objectives. Strategic initiatives may be related to data standard development/implementation, data management maturation, data access and integration, analytics enablement approaches, semantic data models, and beyond.

The individual in this position will also lead development of the Asset Data - Asset Management Plan (AMP). The AMP serves as a roadmap to implement the asset management standards established by ISO 55001 and PAS 55 and servers as the blueprint for how PG&E manages its electric data assets.

Finally, the Principal Data Strategist is responsible for defining and executing commitments around Data Governance and Data Management that support PG&E’s Wildfire Mitigation Plan.

 

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $136,000​

Bay Area Maximum: $232,000​

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining the vision, strategy and Asset Management Plan for Asset Information consistent with ISO 55000 and PAS 55 requirements
  • Leading implementation of the AMP for Asset Information through cross-functional teams
  • Aligning information management efforts to support Asset Family owners, consistent with the PAS 55 asset information clause requirements
  • Developing, measuring and reporting on success of the program. Collaborates across organization to ensure alignment of goals to support program.
  • Partnering with Enterprise Data Management team to define and implement Data Management and Governance standards and related initiatives
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and support regulatory activities by supplying information for filings, data requests, and meeting with regulators.
  • Developing and/or implementing policies and procedures
  • Identifying and driving best practices in data management through external benchmarking
  • Develops or provides significant input to PG&E leadership, other utilities with similar programs, industry and/or regulatory decision makers to influence market place and regulatory strategies impacting PG&E and its customers.
