Position Overview:
Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has two exciting opportunities on the United States Air Force (USAF) E-7A Program for an Air Vehicle Wiring Project Engineer in Tukwila, WA.
In this position you will work closely with the wiring leadership team, contracts, estimating, supply chain, engineering, and/or customers to execute the program. This is a growth role, with the expectation that broad skills and experience gained here would be applicable to a variety of other current and future contracts. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers.
As an Air Vehicle Wiring Project Engineer, the Project Engineer will have the responsibility of providing Engineering leadership to the E-7A Wiring team developing innovative solutions to field the next generation of AEW&C aircraft.
The E-7 is the world’s most advanced, capable, and reliable Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, having proven itself in operations around the world. The aircraft is designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It can provide situational awareness and direct other assets such as fighter jets and warships.

Position Responsibilities:
Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, wire design and installation.
Resolve technical issues through coordination with engineering and leadership.
Manage deliverables by defining plans for risk mitigation, issues, and opportunities; and monitoring baseline plans to assess project performance, productivity, and lessons learned.
Brief customers and leadership on program status; risks, issues, and opportunities; and help needed.
Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements.
Identifies and manages changes to SOW and assesses the impact of those changes, and incorporates changes into statement of work.
Identifies performance metrics.
Implements corrective actions to improve performance.
Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project or team plan.
Track progress to cost, schedule, and technical performance using Boeing Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) and Earned Value Management (EVM).
Engage regularly with supply chain leadership to monitor supplier quality and performance.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience in the role of an integrator supporting multiple engineering disciplines
Availability to travel up to 10% of your time.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years’ experience supporting wire design and/or installation.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate/present to Boeing and customer teams and leaders.
Ability to collaborate with team members and develop execution plans for deliverables.
Experience with commercial airplane certification.
Experience collaborating and integrating various functional groups such as manufacturing, engineering and supplier management.
Experience with metric creating tools (e.g., Tableau)
