Description

Foxdale Village is a Quaker-directed, non-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale Village was founded on the values of treating all with dignity and loving respect. We are seeking a Full-Time Wellness Team Lead to join our dedicated and caring Wellness Programs team. 


This position will manage and design wellness programs that foster Foxdale’s Mission and Values for both residents and employees that promote health and wellness. Oversee exercise specialists and personal trainers. Manage all records needed for the wellness center, including attendance records for programs and classes.


Job duties of the Wellness Team Lead include: 

  • Develop a biomechanically correct exercise program with the focus of functional fitness for the residents of Foxdale Village.
  • Facilitate Functional fitness for the residents of Foxdale and train all reporting exercise specialists and personal trainers on this      concept, driving a philosophical approach to the wellness program.
  • Implement exercises that focus on improving and or maintaining muscular strength and flexibility and improving/maintaining ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living). Develop and implement similar programs for the employee wellness program.
  • Implement programs for all areas within the wellness center that are enjoyable and meet the physical and social goals of the target group.
  • Supervise activity of residents and staff while stressing safety and proper usage of equipment.
  • Assume responsibility to promote health and wellness and communicate program changes, exercise room changes, and incentives for programs.
  • Lead a variety of exercise classes for the residents in all three levels of care (independent living, assisted living, and skilled care).      Class components should be specific to class physical ability and needs, and still meet a variety of fitness levels.
  • Document residents’ attendance and submit to business office monthly for billing of all personal training sessions given by wellness staff.
  • Provide instruction on the proper usage of equipment.
  • Provide personal training sessions for interested residents and submit to office for billing.
  • Create and provide a physical wellness program for employees. Publicize and encourage employee participation. Monitor attendance in an effort to build a database. The database may be used to assess return on investment for the program, possible link to workplace injuries, etc. 
  • Ensure that employee activities focus on job specific biomechanical needs and employee’s personal activity preference
  • Attend seminars, workshops, and educational sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Communicate needs and update supervisor of programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the residents and employees.
  • Participate in department staffing needs and provide input on staff evaluations and disciplines.
  • Develop new hire training and continued education
  • Oversee certifications and continued education need for the wellness staff in conjunction with supervisor
  • Develop and maintain exercise protocol for the wellness center.
  • Maintain wellness center policies and procedures
  • Support the wellness center’s internships and facilitate curriculum.
  • Participate in employee in-service education programs and safety drills.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance in order to meet the daily fitness needs of the residents.

Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Equivalent to Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology or related field.

Experience:  Equivalent to three to five years of related experience, preferably in planning and implementing exercise program with older adults. Prior management/supervisory experience is preferred. 

Language:  Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

Math:  Must be able to complete tasks using basic mathematical skills.

Computer:  Must be able to use word-processing skills.

Training:  Aquatics therapy certification is preferred, or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Other fitness certifica
