POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Party Hosts are responsible for leading youth and families in YMCA approved activities and programs during reserved parties at branch locations. The employee is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for all participants. Standard hours are weekends, 12:30PM - 3:30PM.Ā

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set up Party Room prior to party timeslot and clean following activities.
  • Check in party participants and finalize current guest roster.
  • Ensure all current guests sign relevant waivers prior to activities; answer any guest questions.
  • Be aware of injury recognition and prevention to ensure safety of participants.
  • Assist in current activity room (i.e. on pool deck or at rockwall).
  • Incorporate YMCA values through presentation of materials, attitude and discussion topics.
  • Notify Supervisor of any equipment malfunctions or repairs immediately.
  • Ensure stereo, music, mic, and all class equipment is returned to appropriate storage area.
  • Provide support and encouragement for all participants, regardless of fitness level.
  • Promote other YMCA programs during classes when needed.
  • Seek feedback from participants on program to ensure their needs are being met.
  • Obtain additional knowledge through attendance at workshops, observation of other leaders, and individual study.
  • Assist with other association projects and programs as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate should be at least 18 years of age with appropriate education and experience to instruct the chosen programs.
  • Must be able and willing to develop positive, authentic relationships with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
