To be successful in this role, you should have experience with writing and in particular the ability to interview technical resources and generate engaging content that can be understood and enjoyed by the general public.
Job Description

Overview
The Web Designer develops, designs, creates, and maintains the City's internet and intranet web site pages utilizing artistic and technical expertise.
Essential Functions
1 Develops, designs, and maintains various websites for departments within the City; creates and updates web graphics, makes changes per departmental requests, coordinates server maintenance activities, and manages basic settings for hosted sites.
2 Meets with representatives from client department to plan web site projects; sketches, designs, and builds wireframes and mockups which develop into click through prototypes for review and developer handoffs; updates and edits iterations based off design reviews and feedback through collaboration
3 Implements time-sensitive updates to web site information from all city departments; troubleshoots and solves problems with web content in a professional and timely manner so workflow is minimally disrupted.
4 Designs, develops, identifies improvements, and recommends technical solutions based on Internet technologies.
5 Works with Public Information Department to disseminate citizen sensitive information for web site.
6 Researches, investigates, and learns new web technologies; makes purchasing recommendations for future web updates and the improvement of existing web presence.
7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques used in developing web sites.
2 Thorough knowledge of technical requirements in web page production
3 Considerable knowledge in the operation of a computer and the use of computer software programs for creating artistic web site pages in a variety of formats.
4 Considerable knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
5 Ability to create, design and develop web pages and web sites for the Internet and Intranet.
6 Ability to create the overall navigation flow, layout of specific pages, and creation of individual graphic elements for web site pages.
7 Ability to work independently, plan, organize and execute assignments with minimum supervision.
8 Ability to organize and coordinate multiple, time -sensitive assignments, and to maintain work records.
9 Ability to conduct research, organizes, analyze, prepare and present technical information.
10 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
11 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
