SUMMARY:
This position involves a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities include:

• Operating a wastewater analysis laboratory
• Maintaining wastewater collection and pre-treatment systems
• Operating and maintaining full wastewater treatment systems
• Collecting samples for analysis in compliance with EPA, state, and health department regulations
• Performing chemical analyses both in and out of the laboratory
• Adjusting systems based on chemical analysis results to ensure regulatory compliance
• Performing mathematical calculations using basic algebra and a calculator
• Completing computerized reports and compiling information for monthly reports required by permits, state authorities, EPA, or corporate management
• Utilizing basic organizational, mechanical, and electrical wiring skills
• Communicating operational status to upper management
• Maintaining operations logs
• Performing maintenance on equipment, operating a spotter truck and/or forklift
• Groundskeeping, painting, and general housekeeping
• Performing other duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 1+ years of wastewater experience preferred
• Computer Skills: Basic skills with knowledge of Word and Excel
• Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical
• Certification:
  • Must complete a storm water training program selected by site management within thirty days
  • Must complete "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I" and "Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume II" correspondence courses through California State University Sacramento within twelve months
  • Must obtain the lowest grade certification program within twelve months or in accordance with state regulations
• Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Required to obtain higher levels of certification and training up to Level A at this facility
  • Must meet and maintain minimum qualification levels as required by state regulations
• Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting heavy objects (50-75 pounds)
  • Climbing and/or descending stairs or ladders
  • Working in unsanitary conditions and with hazardous chemicals
• Supervisory: None
• Travel: 1 to 2 trips per year
