Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for meeting business commitments for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. The position leads tactical decision making, facilitates process improvements, and performs first line supervisory functions. The Warehouse Supervisor possesses leadership ability and highly effective communication skills. The role directly supports the manufacturing operations and procurement of the organization. The Supervisor is expected to spend 6-8 hours per day in the warehouse and on the production floor auditing, monitoring, coaching and facilitating continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, shipping, receiving, planning and quality control of production materials and/or finished goods.
  • Facilitates root-cause problem solving with employees to overcome obstacles to achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives.
  • Develops each team member to become effective in his/her job through training, counseling, and checking results. Monitors and evaluates performance of employees and provides feedback as required. Administers corrective disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Makes and executes decisions regarding work assignments that support KPIs and cross-training. Responsible for developing high-performing, flexible team(s). Lead and direct team development through education, training, coaching, mentoring and certification in the execution of improvement priorities and the achievement of key performance indicators.
  • Plan layout of line-side stock locations, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering size, weight, and related factors of items stored. Takes responsibility for 5S activities within organization with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Manages company cycle counting program as defined by the organization. Tracks inventory accuracy and resolves discrepancies.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Drives change and innovation. Builds continuous improvement culture within team(s).
  • Owns OTD and shipping dollars metrics from the factory. Eliminates past due backlog and backorders for all products determined to be available in stock upon demand.
  • Processes time-keeping records in UltiPro, manages vacation scheduling for team(s), and administrates the DTC Attendance Policy.
  • Enforces all Company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Behaves ethically and responsively. Models “Behaviors in Action” and supports the core values of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Post-secondary education is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
  • Experience using MRP or ERP systems. Prior experience using SAP preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read simple instructions, blueprints, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of other employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
