About the role

The Position

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for daily job assignments and quality monitoring of the warehousing functions.  These functions include shipping of products, staging material for production work orders, receipt of materials, cycle counting, and ensuring accurate transactions in the ERP system.  Takes point on various tasks including training, GMP compliance, GAAP compliance, and safe work practices. This is an onsite position that may require driving between local sites. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Allocate and assign Warehouse personnel’s daily tasks to accomplish the following:

  • Ensure timely and accurate shipments of finished goods

  • Ensure that production lines and R&D are properly supplied

  • Ensure timely and accurate receipt of materials

  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Generally Acceptable Accounting Practices (GAAP)

  • Directly assist in the above functions during peak activity periods, during personnel absences or vacations, and at any time so as to maximize departmental efficiencies

  • Ensure Warehouse personnel are working in a safe manner, especially in light of operating heavy material handling equipment, company vehicles, and handling potentially hazardous materials

  • Become fully trained in the appropriate emergency hazmat response procedures

  • Enforce and recommend updates to procedures that maintain transactional discipline and inventory accuracy

  • Assist in the reconciliation of transaction and inventory count discrepancies

  • Assist in the training of new and existing personnel, and provide input to the manager regarding their performance

  • Coordinate material transactions between both warehouses and other departments

  • Internal interactions:  Customer Service, Production, Planning, Purchasing, QC/QA, R&D, and Cost Accounting

  • External interactions: Freight companies, customs agents, distributor’s traffic personnel. 

  • Safety:  Hazmat emergency response

  • Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience  

  • High School degree plus 10 years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse or related

  • Associates degree plus 7 years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse or related

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience in a manufacturing warehouse or related

Skills – Technical

  • Strong good working knowledge of computerized inventory control systems (SAP experience highly preferred), inventory control methods and procedures, and freight manifest systems

  • Intermediate-level skills on personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software

  • Hands-on experience shipping products via common freight carriers

  • Hands-on experience supplying materials to production work orders

  • Hands-on experience receiving materials against purchase orders

  • Hands-on experience with temperature controlled material

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Trained in the safe usage of basic warehouse equipment such as forklifts and stock pickers

  • Knowledge of, or previous experience in, a GMP environment is highly desirable

  • Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner 

  • Must be able to think and work both tactically and strategically to provide financial and operational needs to GenMark’s business 

  • Effective analytical problem solving, judgment and decision-making skills are required 

  • Strong time management and organizational skills in a dynamic, constantly changing environment

  • Ability to read, write and analyze complex documents 

  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, customer inquiries or complaints as well as communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, peers and individuals

  • Ability to work effectively, exhibit a professional manner and establish constructive working relationships
