The VP Network Engineering position within the Network and UC team is responsible for the management and development of employees as well as the architecture of the network.  The individual will lead the development of network strategy to enhance availability and resiliency while meeting business objectives.  They will work closely with operations counterparts to ensure proper communication, documentation, and procedures for all network functions.  They will serve as an escalation point for operational and engineering challenges and work collaboratively until resolution.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set an example in terms of professionalism, punctuality, and communication.
  • Execute formal HR responsibilities and provide mentorship, training, and leadership to staff. 
  • Provide an escalation point for all issues presented by staff in a 24/7 environment.  This could be HR related, organizational, or technical. 
  • Provide managerial approval and support for new initiatives and ongoing functions.
  • Provide ownership over internal and assigned projects.
  • Develop strategies and implementation plans for new technologies to fit business needs.
  • Continually improve network architectures and technologies. 
  • Maintain vendor relationships that benefit the department and assist in achieving our goals. 
  • Provide feedback to higher level management on areas to improve.  This includes not only areas of direct management but the greater Credit Union as a whole. 
  • Meet with business counterparts to solicit feedback and areas of opportunity.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to foster teamwork, work collaboratively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Ability to lead and positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.
  • Ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
  • 5 years of IT networking experience working in an enterprise infrastructure.  Familiar with planning, designing, and executing network architectures in a regulated and complex environment. 
  • Experience working with change management controls, incident management procedures, and problem management resolution.
  • Knowledge of modern enterprise network, cloud network, and voice architectures.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or at least 5yrs of experience in related field.
  • Experience managing a hybrid workforce.
