POSITION OVERVIEW
The Vice President, Institutional Markets Actuary will join Global Atlantic’s Institutional Markets business, based in NYC. We are a ~50-person principal investing team within Global Atlantic Financial Group, a subsidiary of KKR. We are focused on deploying capital on reinsurance and acquisition opportunities in the Insurance Industry. Since Global Atlantic’s founding in 2004, this group has executed multiple strategic acquisitions and reinsurance transactions, including block, flow and PRT reinsurance, representing a total of +$100B of assets to date.
As an integral part of the Institutional Markets team, the VP, Institutional Markets Actuary will be responsible for:
- Performing pricing and valuation due diligence on potential reinsurance or M&A transactions involving life and annuity business
- Evaluating life products (e.g. whole, traditional, universal, term life, BOLI/COLI, etc.) and product design
- Reviewing actuarial experience of blocks of business under consideration
- Making recommendations for key actuarial assumptions
- Assessing US statutory and GAAP accounting and valuation models and considerations for subject blocks of business
- Identifying potential risks in transactions, and suggesting sensitivities and mitigating actions
- Working with the Investments and Risk team on ALM considerations and actions for potential deals
- Participating in negotiating discussions with counterparties
- Providing integration support for completed deals
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Finance
- Qualified Actuary: Fellow of the Society of Actuaries preferred
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including life product development, reinsurance, insurance M&A, and valuation / financial reporting
- Strong skills / experience in actuarial modeling (MG-ALFA preferred)
- Strong quantitative and technical abilities, and knowledge of life and annuity products. Experience with whole life, universal life, and universal life with secondary guarantees preferred
- Solid organizational and time management skills
- High energy with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently as well as being a team player
- Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills
- Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. The annual base salary range provided in this posting for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives. The base salary range for this role is $219,000 to $293,000.
