A Brief Overview
The VP/CFO I is a key member of the senior management team working in partnership to effectively position the assigned facility for growth and sustainability in the marketplace. Responsible for overseeing the financial management of the facility, including general and cost accounting, budget preparation and monitoring, and long-range financial planning. Responsibilities include the development, analysis, and interpretation of accounting and statistical information to appraise the operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness. What you will do
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all functions related to financial management, capital and expense budgeting, forecasting, and accounting for the system-owned hospital.
- Works in partnership with the hospital’s senior management team and system CFO to develop and deploy strategic and cost saving initiatives that are crucial to the future growth and success of the facility and the system.
- Directs all fiscal compliance activities such as audits, taxes, and preparation of governmental agency reports.
- Oversees and enforces accounting and fiscal management policies to ensure adherence to professional practices.
- Collaborates with the senior team to identify additional revenue opportunities and integrate continuous financial improvements for future growth and financial success.
- Responsible for providing timely, accurate and comprehensible financial information.
- Develops, implements, and maintains planning and control procedures; analyzes and reports variances.
- Directs communications with government accounting and audit agencies and recommends or negotiates resolution of existing disparities in interpretations for compliance with regulatory procedures.
- Responsible for banking, investing, and financing activities including compliance with any debt covenant requirements, negotiation and coordination of capital financing.
- Oversees hospital departments supporting the finance function (such as Patient Access and HIM) and other departments as assigned.
- Contributes financial expertise in the planning of new services and in support of acquisition and merger activities.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting
- Bachelor's Degree Finance

- Master's Degree Business Administration/Management
- Master's Degree Healthcare Administration
Work Experience Requirements
- 5-7 years Financial management
- 5-7 years Progressive leadership
- 5-7 years Revenue enhnancement initiatives
- 5-7 years Strategic planning
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A strong background in and comprehensive knowledge of financial management and metrics is imperative. Must be well versed in Medicaid rules and regulations.
- Must be skilled at interpreting financial performance and adept at skillfully communicating ideas and strategies to the senior management team.
- Able to demonstrate a track record of success in strategic planning in a complex healthcare environment.
