VISITOR SERVICES MARKETING COORDINATOR - POSITION AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 29, 2025 

PG 13 - $21.94HR./$43,472.00 ANNUALLY 

MAJOR FUNCTION: Supports the Senior Visitor Services Manager by implementing core marketing and sales initiatives that drive tourism and enhance visitor engagement. This position contributes directly to the success of Polk County’s tourism division by managing the digital mobile passes, gift sales, ticket sales, advertising, signage programs, and concierge services that increase engagement and economic impact.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:

Marketing & Sales Operations

• Assists in the execution of all marketing and sales initiatives, including retail store management, attraction ticket sales, advertising, promotions, digital marketing, and customer service.
• Coordinates targeted direct mail and e-marketing campaigns, collateral distribution, database management, data mining, and online promotional activities.
• Assists in tracking and analyzing results from advertising, promotions, digital campaigns, direct mail, and website metrics.
• Conducts visitor surveys and compiles visitor profile analyses to support data-driven strategies.
• Works closely with internal departments and tourism partners to implement marketing initiatives and support special promotions that drive overnight stays.

Visitor Services & Retail

• Provides concierge-style sales and customer service to individual travelers and group clients at visitor centers, special events, and trade shows.
• Supports the operation and maintenance of visitor information centers, kiosks, and customer service touchpoints.
• Responsible for managing all mobile passes; including Sunshine Savings Pass, BBQ Trail Pass, Adventure on Tap Pass, and Mural Magic Pass.
• Develop and implement a minimum of one new digital pass annually.  Responsible for onboarding merchants, building the pass, working with the agency of record for creative assets, and marketing the pass.
• Assist the Senior Visitor Services Manager with managing the billboard inventory throughout Polk County and the surrounding region. 
• Assist the Social Media & Education Coordinator with content creation for all social channels. 
• Assist with all collateral distribution and fulfillment operations throughout Polk County. 

Special Events & Community Engagement

• Coordinates and manages special events and community meetings for tourism stakeholders and client groups.
• Oversees planning and implementation of promotional activities that support increased tourism traffic and awareness.
• Represents Polk County at trade shows, conferences, and meetings to promote tourism offerings to organizational decision-makers.
• Delivers public presentations to clients and community groups showcasing Polk County tourism products and experiences.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:

• Knowledge of basic marketing principles including retail management, sales strategies, customer service, digital promotions, and event planning.
• Familiarity with visitor services and tourism-related operations.
• Knowledge of event management including vendor registration, marketing, operational logistics, and customer experience.
• Knowledge of purchasing, merchandising, and pricing as it relates to products for the General Store.

Ability to:

• Provide exceptional customer service in person and in group settings.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze information, exercise independent judgment, and formulate actionable recommendations.
• Capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, stakeholders, clients, and the general public.
• Lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Independently navigate to and service multiple locations which display promotional materials.
