Job Description Summary

Teaching, Curriculum, & Educational Inquiry: Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor in one or more of the following fields: primary education (pk-5), with experience or ability to translate instruction for grades 6-8. Specialization in literacy or math is also considered, with the ability for the candidate to engage with interdisciplinary approaches to teaching. Successful applicants will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, supervise clinically-based program experiences, supervise graduate projects, assist with student advising and provide service to the institution. Appointment begins August 17, 2026 for the 2026-27 academic year. The position is renewable contingent on performance and funding.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, Social Justice Education, Educational Leadership, or closely related field by date of appointment, and at least two years of full-time teaching experience in PK-12 schools for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor; master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, Social Justice Education, Literacy, Educational Leadership, or closely related field by date of appointment, and at least two years of full-time teaching experience in PK-12 schools for appointment as Instructor. 

Consideration may be given to candidates with experience teaching or focus in literacy and reading, including evidence-based literacy instruction and the science of reading; knowledge of and experience with multicultural and/or multilingual populations; engagement with culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies; experience teaching hybrid or fully online as well as face-to-face courses. University teaching experience is highly desired as well.
