What You'll Do
- Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, procedures, and surgeries
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
- Obtain patient histories and vital signs
- Prepare patients and treatment areas for procedures
- Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples as appropriate to your experience
- Place IV catheters as appropriate to your experience and credentials
- Assist with laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures
- Support anesthesia monitoring and surgical recovery as appropriate to your role
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records
- Educate clients about medications, treatments, preventive care, and follow-up instructions
- Listen carefully to clients and make them feel heard and supported
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam and treatment areas
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members
- Support teammates and jump in wherever needed to help the hospital run smoothly
- Bring positivity, compassion, and professionalism to every patient and client interaction
