Veterinary Medical Center | Medical Center at DublinThe Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University is searching for a Veterinary Care Assistant to provide operational and patient care support for the patients at the OSU Veterinary Medical Center - Dublin Urgent Care. Primary responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with medical procedures involving animal health. At the VMC-Dublin facility, this can include specialty services including Orthopedic Surgery and Ophthalmology, as well as Emergency Medicine in the Urgent Care department. Basic nursing services include, but are not limited to, triage, history acquisition, measuring vital signs, calculating dosages of medications and constant rate infusions, venipuncture, administering medications (orally, subcutaneously), restraining, etc. Assists in performing various prescribed treatments directly with patients. Obtains and runs laboratory samples in point of care diagnostics and Utilizes specialty equipment (radiological other specialized equipment) directly related to the specialty. Monitors patients (visual observations,), documents these observations and clinical assessments in the patient’s medical record and communicates changes in patient’s medical condition or status to the clinician. Communicates with clients regarding estimates for treatment plans, patient care, updates, surgical recommendations, follow-up care and discharge instructions. Follows prescribed clinical and safety procedures. Provides educational support to veterinary students, veterinary technician students, interns and residents.
Hiring Range - $18.00 - $20.67 per hour
Additional Information:
lifting 40-50 pounds; risks involve exposure to animal dander, rabies, other zoonotic diseases, parasiticides, animal inflicted injuries, anesthetic gases, chemotherapy, gamma ray equipment, irritant chemicals.
