As an UX Researcher supporting Digital Health, you will be responsible for design and development of engaging user experiences for a variety of applications. Studies and evaluates attributes of how users feel about a system; tracking metrics such as ease of use, perception of the value of the system, utility, efficiency in performing tasks, etc. Identifies and translates user needs and business requirements into features and functionality for web/mobile experiences. Develops task and process flows, current-state journey maps, personas, empathy maps, to effectively conceptualize and communicate findings. Proficient in modern research tools (e.g., Dovetail, Maze, FigJam, Usertesting.com, R, SurveyMonkey). In this role, a typical day will include:
- Plan, gather, and assess the insights of users through the review of existing data, and conducting new studies.
- Write comprehensive and well-documented research findings that deliver meaningful and actionable insights for internal consumption.
- Design, manage, and administer usability sessions with support of other team members. Conduct appropriate data analysis to generate actionable reports and outputs.
- Take full ownership of all UX research functions, while managing concurrent workstreams.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that thrives on delivering value to our customers.
- Be the voice-of-the-user on your team, working in conjunction with UX/UI designers and Product Owners. Ensure that the products we deliver effectively solve the customers’ problems while meeting commercial goals.
- Be able to influence product and design decisions with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Create a UX research roadmap for continuous improvement across the product.
- Advise internal partners on the most appropriate research methods (quantitative and qualitative) based on your experience.
- Conduct competitor and exemplar analysis.
- Conduct workshops with internal stakeholders to align business needs.
- Own the coding strategy and manage a scalable research repository, and enable sharing insights across product teams.
Key Performance Indicators
- Actively coach peers on human-centric discovery methodologies through show-and-tells and ad-hoc presentations.
- Plan, execute, and synthesize research in alignment with sprint cycles.
- Develop a standardized set of research artifacts to convey the synthesized output of a study.
Competency Profile
- Demonstrates a passion to empathize with the customer and advocate for their needs.
- Proficient in planning, designing, conducting (in-person and remote), and synthesizing user research and usability testing to test assumptions, inform design decisions and improve product usability.
- Skilled in creating a range of artifacts (e.g., task flows, personas, customer journeys, empathy maps) to communicate the customer’s point of view.
- Experienced in working with human-centered product development methodologies, employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods to weave together a narrative that resonates with users and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct competitive benchmarking, to ensure our products meet and exceed industry standards.
- Versatile in applying diverse design research methodologies such as ethnographic studies, contextual inquiry, field visits, and trend analysis to stay ahead of market needs.
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, able to work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality design solutions.
What You’ll Bring To Alcon:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- Five years of relevant experience in qualitative and quantitative research
