Join General Dynamics IT and be a part of a team that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. We are seeking a Lead Synthetic Environment Engineer to build infrastructure for the USSF Operational Test and Training Infrastructure (OTTI) in Colorado Springs, CO.
NOTE: This is a proposal position and considered a Key Personnel (KP) role on the program. Award is expected in Summer 2026.
Position Summary:
The Lead Synthetic Environment Engineer for USSF OTTI serves as the senior technical authority for architecture, integration, and operation of OTTI’s synthetic training, simulation, and Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) environment ecosystem. This role ensures delivery of realistic, scalable, interoperable synthetic environments that support U.S. Space Force operational test, mission rehearsal, and Guardian readiness training.
Key Responsibilities:
Synthetic Environment Architecture:
- Define and maintain OTTI synthetic environment architecture and simulation ecosystem roadmap.
- Lead integration of simulation, emulation, digital twin, and LVC capabilities.
- Ensure realism, scalability, and interoperability across synthetic battlespace environments.
Simulation / LVC Integration:
- Integrate operational systems, models, simulations, and training platforms.
- Enable distributed simulation federation and exercise orchestration.
- Support threat/adversary environment modeling and red/blue force emulation.
Training/Test Enablement:
- Support development of training scenarios, mission rehearsal environments, and test environments.
- Ensure synthetic environment supports readiness metrics and operational evaluation requirements.
Technical Leadership:
- Serve as synthetic environment SME to Government and Program Leadership.
- Mentor simulation engineers and environment developers.
- Conduct architecture/design reviews and technical governance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Modeling/Simulation, or related field.
- 10+ years in simulation, synthetic environments, or LVC engineering.
- 5+ years leading distributed simulation or synthetic training/test environments.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting USSF / DoD Test & Training / LVC / Distributed Mission Ops.
- Familiarity with:
- DIS / HLA / TENA / Simulation Federation Standards
- Digital Twin / Threat Modeling Platforms
- Wargaming / Scenario Generation / Mission Rehearsal Tools
- Space Domain Synthetic Training Environments
