Job DetailsJob Location: Trustees of Thayer Academy - BRAINTREE, MA 02184Salary Range: $1,000.00 - $9,000.00 Commission
Thayer Academy seeks qualified Upper School coaches at the Head, Assistant, JV, and 3rd level for the Fall and Winter Season. This seasonal, part-time position is responsible for helping to lead upper school sports teams. This includes promoting a culture and practice of excellence and sportsmanship consistent with the philosophy and policies of Thayer Academy and the program’s long history of achievement. The coach is responsible for all aspects of the program, including student recruitment, managing practices and games/championships, supervising assistant coaches, communicating with families and the Thayer Athletic Department, and supporting student-athletes in the college recruitment process.
Season Dates
March 2nd - May 18th
Required practices
Upper School
Practice: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 - 6:00 pm
Games occur on Wednesday and Saturday at variable times
No JV practices or games on Fridays
Open Coaching Positions:
Girls JV Assistant Lacrosse Coach
Head Boys JV Tennis Coach
Varsity Track Coach, specialty, high jump & hurdles
Varsity Track Coach, specialty: jav, long jump, triple jump
Assistant Varsity Crew Coach
Roles & Responsibilities
Complete CPR/AED and Heads up! Certifications prior to the start of the season
Participate in preseason training and practices/scrimmagesRepresent Thayer Academy as a role model and coach
Head coaches at all levels are expected to plan and lead daily practices and weekly games with a focus on skill development, game strategy, respect, sportsmanship, and character development
Cultivate a positive team culture emphasizing teamwork, resilience, and strong moral character
Travel with the team on the bus to all games/practices
Responsible for all Thayer Academy equipment following practices and games
Ensure that all student athletes are picked up
Effectively communicate in a weekly email with parents, the athletic department, and campus security, and daily communication with the coaching staff
Share game score immediately following game and send athletic department a post-game write-up within 24 hours of contest completion
Compensation
$1,000 to $9,000
QualificationsQualifications
Experience coaching at the appropriate school level
Experience designing and implementing daily practice/game plans
Commitment to working in and fostering a safe and inclusive environment
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department
Ability to communicate effectively with students and families
Willingness to learn and grow through professional development opportunities
Daily communication with the Thayer Athletic Staff
Communication as needed with the Thayer Athletic Training Staff
Adherence to all Thayer Athletic Department Policies & Practices
