About the Unit

Our Labor and Delivery Unit within Butterworth Hospital, it is a fast paced procedural unit, similar to a surgical environment. We have 28 Beds, 11 Triage (5 Prep & Recovery Bays, 3 ORs) and we average 8,000 births per year.

Scope of work 

In the Labor and Delivery Unit, the Unit Secretary will have unique and critical tasks including receptionist/secretarial duties, maintaining confidential records, supplies and equipment.

In addition to desk responsibilities, they do paging overhead for emergency c-section, managing locked door system for unit, and may be asked to help their team with cleanup/prep of the labor and delivery rooms and frequent trips to the lab. They wear scrubs along with the rest of the team, and are on the move for a good majority of their shift.

Qualifications 

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Over 1 year of relevant employment experience strongly preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 60 days of hire​
