High Transit LLC assists heavy hauling companies in moving a wide variety of oversize and overweight loads. We provide specialty services for customers in the civil construction, transportation, building construction, manufacturing, Marcellus Shale, and heavy equipment industries. We are seeking a Transportation Support Specialist to support our High Transit team in Denver, PA.
The Transportation Support Specialist is responsible to ensure the tactical execution of outbound shipments for High Concrete Group. Supports daily transportation activities by assisting with dispatch-type duties and monitoring the status of loads. Works with the Carrier Relationship Manager and Site Superintendents to address and resolve issues as necessary. Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, assists with back office administrative duties and contributes to special projects as needed.
This position is a 5:30AM- 2:00PM shift, working Monday-Friday out of our Denver, PA plant.
Starting at $21/hour and can increase based on previous work experience!
Essential Job Function
- Ensures driver paperwork is complete with the correct permits, and informs drivers when escorts are assigned. Assists drivers when loads are not ready and coordinates getting permits to them if necessary.
- Takes calls from drivers with questions or when equipment repairs are needed. Coordinates with High Transit Maintenance to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner and updates the HCG Site Superintendent if there will be a delay.
- Ensures all loads have been picked up and are on time. Informs the Site Superintendents when loads will be late due to the load or paperwork not being ready.
- Supervises the daily outbound operation and ensures any disruptions or changes have been handled by the permit, escort or carrier assignment teams as necessary. Facilitates communication between HCG shipping office and HT teams as necessary.
- Ensures all drivers have reported their return trailer information.
- Assists with the tactical aspects of load tendering and monitors acceptances. Stays close enough to the Carrier Relationship Manager to be able to assign carriers, if necessary.
- Tracks equipment inspections and works with the HCG Shipping Office and HT Maintenance to coordinate when equipment will be taken out of service. Communicates with HT Maintenance when trailer tracking devices are not communicating.
- Maintains the trailer rental log so all parties are aware of what trailers are in use by High Concrete. Works with the HT Maintenance Technician to coordinate the inbound and outbound inspection of rental trailers. Enters new rental equipment into SAP.
- Assists with invoicing tasks for work performed by third party carriers at the High Concrete facility. Works with Accounts Payable and the Transportation Manager as necessary to process all invoices. Researches and resolves outstanding payables to ensure all vendors are current.
- Updates SAP with Site Superintendent contact changes.
- Understands the basics of permitting and can obtain an emergency permit when necessary.
- Evaluates time of day restrictions and communicates with Site Superintendents to help them understand when loads may leave.
- Stays in the know on routing restrictions, such as construction, and works with the Transportation Manager and permit team to assist with routing for estimates and current projects.
- Understands the HCG estimating process and can assist with generating estimates for HCG, if necessary.
- Works closely with HCG Shipping Office and accepts administrative responsibilities, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience, Training and/or Education Required:
- Must be a High School graduate.
- Some experience in Transportation, Construction or related industries preferred, but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Works well in a team environment, but can work independently as necessary.
- Handles difficult situations calmly and effectively, while considering the implications for vendors and customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Possesses a strong process orientation, with the ability to articulate recommendations if processes could be improved.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with an ability to learn new software and systems.
- Valid Driver's License
